The café is operating in the garden of the Iliou Melathron, a small green oasis in downtown Athens. The garden, of 800m2, contains numerous plants of the Greek flora and is decorated with copies of ancient Greek statues.

The visitors to the Museum and others who spend time in the area can enjoy a pleasant break for coffee or light lunch in a serene and cool environment. Following contact with the person in charge of the Café and the Museum’s Public Relations office, the place can also accommodate special happenings.

The Main Building dining area is located on the second floor and extends out to the terrace of the Neoclassical building, from which there is a panoramic view of the Acropolis, Lykabettus Hill and the National Gardens. Every Thursday the museum is open until midnight, allowing guests to experience dining in an elegant ambience.

At number 138 of the oldest street connecting Athens to Piraeus, the Pireos Street Building houses a modern and simultaneously simple café-restaurant on its ground floor that offers interesting gastronomic selections. The café-restaurant opens onto the interior atrium, while at the same time providing a visual link to the modern city’s movement and rhythm.

We loved the restaurant at Benaki Museum.

Since we were there on Free Thursday --- we decided to support the museum and had a wonderful lunch there. Prices are very reasonable (compared to Acropolis Museum) and the food & service was great.
