We are thinking about a day trip to Aegina and after reading some information here on tripadvisor just need some clarification:
1. I realize this is a close Island from Athens and the options are ferry and flying dolfin, but is the ride to Aegina more enjoyable on the ferry (even though it takes longer?). It's my understanding that on the ferry you can walk around and enjoy the view, whereas on the flying dolphin while its quicker, you are just seated airplane style.
2. Once you get to Aegina, can you walk and explore the Island or do you need to rent a car or take a bus? What options are there once you arrive. Or to put it another way, what can we see in Aegina that we couldn't see something similar in Athens?
3. I realize the next question is subjective. We are happy to just explore Athens for all the time we are in Greece and we have enough time to do that - a full 7 days. Would we miss anything by not going to an Island. We love museums and the archeological sights and we would be happy to just enjoy Athens. However, it seems everyone also goes to an Island or more....so would we be missing something by not going or can you enjoy Athens and have no regrets by not going to an island?
Thanks again for any advice and opinions.
