Athens in October/Hotels

We are visiting Athens in October and have narrowed down on some hotels...

Which one is preferable-

#Central Hotel

#Adrian Hotel

#Electra Hotel (On Ermou)

We want to be near nice restaurants, cafes, shops on Ermou Street etc. Of the three, Central seems to be more trendy but is cheaper than the other two - does anybody know why? Is the location of Adrian or Electra more desirable? Please help!

Also tried Magna Grecia but no reply from them. I thought it seemed nicer than the rest but need to book asap as rooms are fast filling up so can't wait for them to reply.

Also what kind of weather should we expect in end-October?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Central is better...modernized and well situated...others are also lovely hotels and in great locations...actually al the hotels you mentioned are not have bigger distance that 700 metres from each other.......as for cheaper central...well good for you..there is not an explanation for that....

I agree with Gas ; Central is nice , very clean ,quiet.Electra might be more loude because it is situated on a busy shopping road pedestrian road but not that recpected .

Thanks! What about Magna Grecia?

We are leaving Athens for Santorini on 21st Oct and plan on taking the 22:00hrs Hellenic Seaways overnight ferry that gets to Santorini at 07:40hrs the next day. What kind of seats should we book (we are 2 couples travelling together)? Is it necessary to book in advance or can we book once we get to Athens on 19th Oct?

On our return, we are thinking of taking the Blue Star Ferry on 27th Oct departing 07:00hrs and arriving at Pireaus at 14:55hrs to get on to a 17:00hrs flight from Athens airport. Is that too little time? What is the journey time from Pireaus to Athens Airport? And the fastest way to get there? We are 4 people with luggage!

Sorry for bombarding you with questions!

it is to llittle time...keep in mind that you have to be in the aiport at least one hour sooner.....the fasest way is the taxi which is going to make about 45 minutes and the time you want to find one in the chais of pireas port.....forget that solution.......the the fast ferry from santorini to athens to save time(hellenic sea ways)..i hope not travel overnight with the old ferry of hellenic sea ways...the only comfortable options is the fats hellenic sea way ferry and the blue stars......

magna grecia is great if you can find an availibility do it!!!

just to make it clear.....

hellenic sea ways has to type of ferries..the fast hydrofoils going to santorini from athens in 5 hours and the old ferries making the trip in 11 hours which isnt worth it.....in adittion blue star ferries make that trip in about 7 hours

I go every May and have stayed in various hotels - not any of the ones you mention, although I keep trying for the Adrian but it's always fully booked.

The weather should be comfortably warm but cooler in the evening.

If you walk up Adrianou, in Plaka, past the Adrian on your right and take the first alley right, there's a shoe/sandl shop on the corner, up the steps, turn right into odos Diogenou you'll find taverna O Platanos under the plane trees. It's always full of Greeks (good Sigh) and serves barrel retsina. Great place to eat.

The Adrian is within a short walk of Monastiraki Metro.

Hope this helps.
