Ferry from Chania to Santorini?

Hi

My wife and I are considering a week in Chania in September. Whilst we are there we were wondering whether it would be posible to catch the fast ferry to Santorini one day, spend a night on Santorini and get the fast ferry back to Chania the next day. However it would seem that the fast ferry only leaves from Heriklion. Is that the case and if so would it be feasible to do this or does the journey to and from Heriklion to get the fast ferry make it unworthwhile?

Many thanks.

You have to go to Heraklion for a ferry. You can just make the 09:45 ferry using the first bus from Chania, about 06:00. The ferry is 56 € 1p1w. Thus a return travelling cost starting from Chania totals about 130 € for 1 person.

UK has direct flights to Santorini, thus a waste of money and time.

Many thanks for your reply. It does seem like a lot of hard work and relatively a lot of money. But our budget won't stretch to a full week in a nice hotel on the cliff top in Santorini, so our thought was to stay on crete - which is much cheaper - and still get to see Santorini for a couple of days. Sort of double bubble so to speak.

Hi gary

Why not split your holiday, a couple of days on Santorini ( fly from the UK), then one way ferry to Crete for the remainder of your trip, and fly home from Crete?
