Rethymno has a lovely old Venetian harbour but given that you stayed in Georgioupolis and probably already visited it, I would vote for Agios Nikolaos too.

Elounda harbour is one of the prettiest in Crete. You can sit in a taverna looking out at the tourists, and watch the streams of people coming back from the boat trips, safe in the knowledge that they will be going back to somewhere noisy like Hersonissos, or Malia. Elounda has a peaceful night life.Great place for a relaxing , yet interesting break, and if you want some bigger shops, and a lovely coastal drive, then you can take a trip to Aghios Nikolaus?

Hi there

Take a look at Sissi too, a working fishing village just 45 mins east of the airport.

Photos here of Sissi and its close neighbour, Milatos
