Heraklion hotels?

Hi, we are fortunute to be visiting Crete in late June, we fly into Heraklion airport late at night, we will be driving to the south coast but we don't fancy driving in the dark over the mountains!! Can anyone reccomend a reasonably priced hotel to sty in for one night, bet GB can!

Thanks in anticipation, Spot

I've stayed several times in the Irini, which is what I'd call reasonably priced. Clean, comfortable, and adequate for a short stay.

If your "reasonably priced" is different, the Lato Boutique hotel is much liked.

Hi there

The Lato is in a great location, overlooking the harbour, might be a bit pricey though in which case Alabastron's recommendation of the Irini is equally as good.

Hotel Sofia is very nice. It has free parking, nice rooms, and internet.. Look at the reviews. It is very close to the airport, 5 minutes or less.

Hotel Sofia, IMO, would be a better bet for you - easier to access and much easier to park, given your late night arrival. If you just need a place to crash on arrival, I agree that this one would do nicely for you. It is well rated and very reasonably priced as well.

The Sofia, which I didn't know of until Jerry E's post, certainly looks very good: rather nicer than the Irini, if the photos are to be trusted, and about the same price level. And the pool would be a definite draw for me. If the OP wants to stay near the airport and head straight off early in the morning, it would be a better choice.

I usually assume that visitors want to stay in the city, and see something of it before leaving, but if that's not the case, a bed near the airport, with easy parking, sounds good.
