Beaches around Chania Town

We are seriously thinking of coming to Chania Town in September but as it is a harbour are the beaches any good and are they in walking distance ?

Nea Chora beach is the town beach. and quite decent. See www.west-crete.com/chania-nea-chora.htm

You also get very nice beaches around 15 -20 minutes walk further to the West at Chryssi Akti and Agii Apostoli.

Yes "town beach" west of harbour, about 10/15min walk.is fine, if not exciting. Alternatively catch bus No. 21 from Platia 1866 to Chryssi Akti, and Agioi Apostoli. €1.10 if you buy tickets from kiosk, 20mins on air-conditioned bus.

In september Agioi Apostoloi, Iguana Beach and Chrissi Akti are just great ! Only 15 minutes by bus, these sandy beaches are near enough for the inhabitants of Hania and far away so you wont feel in an urban beach like Nea Hora, with parks and squares and small hills to discover .

Bus 21, or 15 from Plateia 1866, tickets 1,10 euros .
