Mykonos and wich other island

Me and my wife planning to travel to and from Mykonos, it is a week long trip, 17-24th July.

The last 3 days I wanted to stay in Mykonos but the remainder I wanted either go to other island or some other place in the Mykonos island.

Best suggestions? I would like something less touristy, more genuine. I am not a club goer but like to go out for a meal and drink.

we are on our early 30s

Naxos, Paros and Tinos are all fairly close to Mykonos and all are less touristy. Out of the 3 I prefer Naxos though it's a long time since I went to Tinos & I was only there for a couple of days.

Try Tinos. It is a very short ferry trip and is more genuin than most of the islands around. Syros would also be a very good choice.

The plane would arrive at around 8pm. I can't find any ferrys after that time. Am I looking at the wrong place? is there another way to go or do I have to wait for the next day to travel on the ferry to tinos (or whichever island I decide to go)

The openseas.gr website shows two Syros-bound ferries departing Mykonos at 20:45 on July 17. However, if your flight is landing at 20:00 you probably wouldn't have enough time to get from the Mykonos airport to the ferry port, especially if you will have checked baggage.

If you have to spend a night on Mykonos, consider staying at Makis Place hotel in Tourlos, near the New Port. Good rates, an excellent reasonably priced restaurant on site, a swimming pool, and transfer service provided.

I agree with the suggestions to visit Syros or Tinos for your second island.

I'll offer another vote for Tinos. I recently spent 4 nights there and was amazed at what it has to offer: the miraculous icon to which devout Greeks crawl on their knees (the street and steps up to the church have a carpeted path), the picturesque dovecoats, traditional craftsmen like the marble workers in Pyrgos and basketweavers in Volax, the incredible boulders around Volax, etc. When I was there, I didn't see any tourists other than Greeks - not even Germans.

Why not start in Mykonos? It might help you appreciate Tinos even more.
