re: santorini and naxos from 7th to 19th june

my wife ( who will be in her 13th week of pregnancy) and i have had to revise our travel dates from may to june and will be arriving in santorini on the 7th of june , staying at oia and then catching a ferry to naxos on the 11th and staying at the glaros ( st george) for 8 nights.

what are the temperatures we can realistically expect.

we love swimming in the sea but also like walking extensively so will the weather be good for both. im from india and its pretty hot year round so i dont want to be ambling around in searing temperatures.

cheers

arjun

Historicaly you should expect an air temp of 24 degrees centigrade, varying between 20 and 26 (In the shadow). No rain at all. Watertemp I would guess a little above 20 degrees, very much depending on local variations and wind direction.

Hi, We'll be on Naxos at the same time (10th -28th) and orinally we thought about going in May but decided on mid/late June for couple of reason...weather will be warmer 24c-28c (no guarantee) more places will have opened for the season and excursions to other islands will have begun.

You and your wife will love Naxos, be sure to take your time exploring the labyrinth of the old time and if your wife is up to walking to the top of the town the views are special. Bus to the west coast beaches a must, even though st George's (town)beach is great.

You certainly will not be getting India type searing temperatures. It will be sunny and warm but not hot. You are still a bit in the early season so the water will be cool but St George beach is shallow so it warms up a bit more than the west coast beaches. St George is a long beach and is easy to walk for one end to the other.

I might suggest you try the walk around Chalki. You can take the local bus easily. The signed walk begins just a few meters from the bus stop. It goes away from the Village. WE spent about 3 hours wandering around back alleys and through a series of small villages as the signed path started up the mountian side to moni. We decided that going up the mountain probably was not a good idea so turned around and had lunch at a delightful taverna in Chalki then took the bus back to Naxos town.

This album will open with images of parts of that walk.

By the way Glaros is our favourite hotel on Naxos you will love it.
