One day on Paros

We are arriving next week on a smallish cruise ship and will be on Paros from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. We don't want to take the organised ship excursions but had planned to wander round the port, take a taxi to Naoussa and perhaps visit a beach. Are there any taxi tours which would offer a trip to Naoussa and a good beach, or in the limited time would it be better just to get a taxi to Naoussa and back ? Any help from TA experts would be appreciated.

The bus is about hourly Paros town to Naoussa so that will only be a couple of Euros. The bus station with times is on the ferry quay.

Excursion boats run across the bay from Naoussa to Kolimbithres and Monastiri beaches again frequent enough.

In Paros town just walk to the left facing town (north) that will bring you to a couple of reasonable beaches. Also possible to take beach boats across to the Krios area. Also to Antiparos either direct or thru Pounda via the bus from Paros town.

If all you want to do is go to Naoussa and back, the buses are as good as anything. I don't know of any organised taxi tours, but if you check with the travel agencies around the port they may be able to come up with something.

Don't overlook Parikia itself. Ekatontapiliani (Church of 100 Doors) is arguably the most beautiful Church in the Cyclades, and behind it is a small archaeological museum (closed Mondays). The village of Lefkes is another good place to see, but it's on a different bus route from the one that goes to Naoussa.

Thanks for that. We will scout round the port to see if there are any taxi tours, but if not the bus to Naoussa will do fine. Am assuming they run hourly up until 6 pm ish ?? We will also have a look around Parikia.

Buses to/from Naoussa will be running hourly until well after it's time for you to return to your ship. Ask for a printed timetable at the Parikia bus station.

Many thanks for that, photos look lovely. Having spent a week on Naxos a couple of years ago am looking forward to seeing Paros. The Cyclades are hard to beat really.

You have been given some good advice. Below there is a link to the bus timetable for week. Keep checking the website for next week's timetable. You can see the latest version of the timetable and buy all your tickets at the info booth at the bus stop west of the quay

Basically, you can have a look around Parikia, including the fabulous church until the 10.00 No 2 bus to Naoussa. 90 minutes should be enough time in Naoussa to see the fabulous old harbour. You can then catch the 1200 bus to Dryos. Walk down to the great little beach and taverna (10 minutes). From there walk for about 20 minutes to the best beach on Paros - Golden Beach. After a swim, take a bus from there to Lefkes - very nice old town - or back to Parikia or, if you are feeling energetic, you can walk along the coast path with lovely views across to Naxos to Logaras for a late lunch (this will take about an hour) and take the bus from there back to Parikia. All these paths are very easy to find and all are flat.

You can take the bus to Naousa and enjoy the scenic ride or go the opposite direction to Pounda and take 10 min ferry to Antiparos. If I was there I would have liked to show youn the sights.
