Beach from Oia?

We're visiting in July and would like to stay in Oia for the views/sunsets, but we want to go south to Red Beach and maybe some others during the day. How long would it take by busy to get from Oia down there? Is there a better route that is still reasonably priced?

Thank you!

It would take probably 2hrs depending how long you have to wait for a connection, and the first bus (you'll have to change buses in Fira),a ssuming you can get on one, they get *very* busy in JUly from what I read (they were bad enough in mid June when I was last there, not everyone could get on a couple of times).

If you want to be visiting beaches a lot, Oia is the least well placed place to stay, Fira (or Kamari or Perissa at the beach) would be much better. You also get great views anywhere from Fira to Imerovigli, same for sunsets (without the ludicrous Oia crowds as well), or just have a meal.drink in Oia at sunset time.

If you do stay in Oia I suggest you look at car rental, at around 30-40Euro a day, if there are 3 or 4 of you to split the cost, it wont be substantially different to multiple bus journeys, seems a shame to waste a lot of your precious holiday time on a bus or waiting for one , when you have already spent $$$$'s to get to Oia and to stay there.

oia you can to swim in amoudi bay and katharos beach.

to red beach-perissa-kamari from oia with bus you need about 60-90min.

first you must to go oia-fira and from there change bus to akrotiri(for red beach) -to perissa -to kamari.
