Fun Ideas for Scavenger Hunt in Santorini

I'm creating a scavenger hunt for a friend for her upcoming May trip to Mykonos, Santorini & Athens. I would like to have three items for each that she needs to take a photograph of a place or doing something. Any suggestions? Found ideas easily for Paris, but not having luck on a search for Greece.

Thanks!

You've received a detailed reply in your Mykonos thread so for Santorini some ideas are:

Riding a donkey from Fira town down to the Old Harbour

Visiting one of the many wineries found on Santorini for some wine tasting

Taking a pic of the classic blue/white Cycladian houses clinging to the caldera

Sunset in Oia

Red Beach / Kamari / Perissa

Hot Springs & Volcano on nearby Nea and Palea Kameni

Ancient Thira

Please don't encourage anyone to ride the poor abused donkeys!

Please, DON'T even think about doing this, it really is animal abuse.

Hi, I agree with both the above about the poor donkeys, but the suggestion of Ancient Thira is a good one as there are many photographic opportunities there. Also on the walk along the cliff tops from Imerovigli to Fira there is a rowing boat on the roof of one of the houses built into the cliff, it makes a lovely photo so you could ask her to find that and take a pic.

If you are near the beach in Perissa, at the very end where the cliffs go down to the sea, it is shaped like an old American Indians head laying on his back, complete with feather headdress. it is not so obvious until you know what to look for, but ask any of the locals along the beach road and they will point it out to you. You could ask your friend to find it and take a pic.

In Athens there is always the challenge of getting a pic of one of the soldiers in white skirts and pom-pom shoes in Syntagma Square actually smiling.

Have fun......... Barbara

If you want to suggest something really fun how about your friend carries a donkey down that path!!

The Evzones are not allowed to smile! That would be a challenge indeed. I once caught a Greek soldier at a ceremonial parade bringing his hand down onto the bayonet of the next guy. He winced, slightly. The hand bled, slightly. Ooops!

Or, even better, up the path, getting hit with a stick by the owner - that way they'd get an idea of how the donkey feels as it's lugging a tourist around.

Hi again, I've thought of a couple more things for your friend to find. It all depends of course on where you will be staying, and for how long.

For Perissa you ask your friend to have a photo taken in front of the Acropolis - there is in fact a restaurant on the beach road with this name.

In Oia or Emborio there are beautiful 3 tier Belltowers, with 6 bells, [similar to photo on Kennydons post above but bigger] for a photo.

Fira, look for a church with a white dome instead of blue for a photo.

Ask her to buy a cocktail with the name beginning with her initial.

Happy hunting......

Barbara.
