I hear there is currently a McDonalds being built and should be ready in time for your stay in May 2013.

Oh no, wait... I'm getting mixed up with Ayia Napa, sorry.

Grilled steak, chicken and seafood is common. It's priced by weight so be sure to ask first. Pizza and spaghetti are common. The resort villages of Kamari and Perissa cater largely to package tourists from the UK. I believe some hotels there will offer English breakfast items.

Yeah, it's all full English, fish and chip bars, white sliced bread and butter, kebabs, Sunday lunch just like mum makes, beans on toast, HP sauce and Heinz Salad Cream, all washed down with gnat's pee lager and pots of tea. A real home from home.

NOT! :-))

I would think the Mc Donalds is being built in Fira? Nice to hear anyway, thought Santorini would never get one. LOLs reason being is that I know an investment banker who worked setting up Mc Donald's and she told me that franchies were offered for "Free" in Greece, just pay for all the other stuff. I never asked how much they cost in other EU countries but I know they cost something like 100-200K in America way back in the 70s.

I think (hope) that the Maccy D reference is a joke. God forbid that they ever start serving their junk on Santorini.

I see they sell some sort of a Mc Shrimp sand.. LOLs aside, its pretty sadd to see corperations having to give away franchies in order to get investors to invest in a country! I think the powers that be should look at the great success of the Baltic countries. Since to thru out their socialist rule and adopted strick capitalist rule they have done very well! Just Google "The Baltic Tiger" or "Baltic Countries growth rates".
