Price of eating out in symi?

Hi all

How do the prices in Symi restraunts compare to the likes of Lindos? We're tempted by Symi but worried that it could be pricey for meals.

Cheers

Hi there

there's no difference really - obviously, as with any dining out experience, you can spend as much or as little as you wish but having dined on Symi a few times, I can't say there's any difference. Expect to pay around 15-20 euros pp for a decent meal of starters, main course and house wine. Beware of fresh fish as it is priced by weight and can give you a surprise when the bill arrives - check prior to ordering to see approx what the cost'll be for stuff like bass, mullet and sea bream.

Hi

It is a few years since I was on Symi but this applies to all similar locations. If you want to eat more cheaply stay away from the restaurants lining the harbour fronts with the waiters trying to drag you in to their establishments. Look for small family run tavernas in the back streets where the Greeks eat.. There are usually specimen menus or boards outside showing the prices of what they have on offer.

Usually you will save a considerable amount of money & get an authentic Greek meal in these places.
