Anyone recommend family friendly resort in kos and small apartment blocks? 2 families with kids aged 7, 12 and 16. We like close to nice beach and traditional Greek tavernas etc

Look at Mastihari or Tigaki. Both have small family owned apartments, some with pools, some without, plus really lovely beaches.

If you want a small apartment block try Akti Dimis in Tingaki. It has a pool.

Just over the road from the beach, good seaviews, close to the village for tavernas, supers, bars etc.

The Oneiro taverna in Tingaki has live bouzouki & dancing on Tuesday evenings.

It's about 20 mins by bus to Kos town/port, good frequent bus service.

I recommend Tingaki. really nice sandy beach for young and old alike. some water sports if that's your bag.

Plenty of nice small hotels including Mythos which is very close to the beach. We stay mostly at Marianna studios which is about 10 minutes or so to the beach and Mayflower apartments a further 5 minutes away.

Plenty of taverna's to eat ate and some night time entertainment, but not a lot.

Some of these blocks are well away from the beach. The plus points of Tingaki are the beach and the views out to sea. It seems perverse to stay up a back or side street with no beach access or sea views.

Agreed that Marianna and Mayflower being well away from the beach, (10-15 minutes walk respectively) but, We enjoy the walk down the centre and beach. From the Mayflower you walk past the fields and groves, very nice to look at so I'd hardly call it a "back street", I see it more as a hotel in the countryside. Even from Marianna the walk past all the shops and taverna's is worth doing. Far from being perverse, we find it very enjoyable not to be staying on top of the beach.
