There are no train connections between Greece & other countries

& you can't hire a car from one country and leave it in other.

Therefore only planes & buses can be used.

Or maybe you can find a cruise since you completely ignore the mainland

Hi there

A few observations..

Early April is still "closed season" as far as most places in Europe are concerned. The season doesn't begin until the start of May, prior to that, only towns with resident populations will have any signs of life, resorts will be closed and that applies to most shops, bars and restaurants.

Is there a specific reason to choose Rhodes? Nothing wrong with it of course but for a first trip, most would opt for all the great sights in Athens.

Is it feasible? Well, for a start, there's a big difference between two and three weeks and has a direct implication on what you can or can't see. How in depth do you want to be? You could easily send all the time in Greece and not scratch the surface.

As aldro says, Greece has no train connections outside of the country, and car rental agencies won't let you take a car from country to country either by road or by ferry.

Croatia seems the odd one out here, Istanbul has flight connections to Athens and from Athens it's quick and easy to reach most Greek islands via a ddomestic flight. I dare say there are flights to Croatia too from Athens but unless you do have that third week, I'd skip it and concentrate on Istanbul and Greece, maybe take in another island and allow some time for Athens.

Bear in mind too that several Turkish ports have direct and quick ferry links to several Greek islands, Rhodes included as well as lesvos, Hios, Kos, Samos and others.

Where do you intend starting the trip? If you do take in Croatia then there's little point backtracking all the way to Istanbul or Athens once done ( or vice versa).
