My nephew and his, then fiancee, stayed at this hotel last year and loved everything about it. I called in to see San Stephano a few months later when I was on Corfu. It is placed at the top of a very steep hill overlooking the sea. The position is stunning but it does mean a long haul walk back up. They loved San Stephano and the hotel and ate in a lot because they said the food was so good. They are in their late twenties and found enough to do around and about. Mostly though they were full of praise for the hotel. I hope you enjoy it too.

Hi we spent a week there last year and enjoyed it so much we are going back this year. In a lifetime of travelling its the first time we have ever returned to a hotel. The rooms are basic greek style but spotlessly clean, the staff are very helpful, courteous and the food is exquisite in the restaurant.

Its a homely place that people return to year on year, some find that closeness and camaradary threatening but you can take it or leave it. We tend to keep ourselves to ourselves because we spend our working life in the public eye and being sociable to people but found there that you weren't under pressure to mix and join in but equally were welcomed if you wanted to.

For us the beach and the location of the hotel was what brought us back. The views from the hotel are fantastic and having a bottle of wine watching the sunset every night makes the hill climbing fade into insignificance.

The food is excellent and reasonably priced - we were paying 25-30 euros for our evening meal with wine. San Stefanos is quiet but with a fair number of restaurants and bars. A car might be useful if you are there for 2 weeks. We didnt do any trips as we've been to corfu a few times - paleocastritsa is picturesque and corfu town is busy, hot and noisy.

Hope this helps. you WILL need mozzie repellant as corfu is very green and even in high summer is a mozzie blood fest!!

Enjoy

Hi glad it was useful - we fly 1st July from Newcastle. If you are reasonably fit and don't mind a little bit of exertion then you should be fine. You get used to the hill by the end of the week so you should be ok as you're going for 2!!

Hi people.

I stayed in San stef NW last year and had a really good time. We ate out at different places every night and didn't have one bad meal, it was also very reasonable. One thing to watch out for is the trip operators. The one at the T junction is San Stef Travel and they are really helpful but we made the mistake of booking with another one further down for the water park. Basically this other trip organiser is an off shoot of one in Sidari, so any trips you book you end up getting ferried in a small people carrier(with no working seat belts) into Sidari and told to wait on a busy road with no shade until another larger older coach comes along. We ended up going to Corfu town to drop people shopping then on to the water park which considerably increased the travel time as we had to go back and pick them up after. Other people we spoke to who had trips through them had the same sort of issues, we ended up cancelling one trip and loosing the money because the same issues would happen again.

We booked the corfu town evening trip through San Stef Travel and had a nice new air con mini coach and no diversions anywhere!

Enjoy your Hols everyone.
