choosing family resort advice

Hi

Hoped to get a bit more specific advice from those of you who know the resorts. We have tended to go to Pefkos in Rhodes over the past few years, but fancy a change of scenery in 2014, although something similar but different is what we’re after really. I’ve got a general idea of resorts but need more specific info so as to get the suitability right for us. Will be 2 adults and 3 kids (10,8, & 1) going. We’re looking at the smaller, quieter resorts, more greek feeling than over commercialised i.e. serve good kleftiko and gyro’s rather than pie&mash/fish&chips. Apartments that cater for adults and small children is top of the list alongside good restaurants for the evening. Sandy beach is a bonus.

Hi, I would recommend Sans/Agios Stefanos North West (not to be confeused with Agios stefanos on North east coast). It is a lovely friendly village with a beautiful sandy beach and is surrounded by lush green hills.

You won't be getting pie and mash here, lots of brilliant taverna's with some doing Greek dancing of an evening which you don't often see these days, some of the taverna's/bars overlook the beach and some are situated in the village. Gyro's on offer too and all food is reasonably priced.

Your children will be made most welcome.

Self catering is your best option in Sans stefanos so you can experience all the brilliant taverna's.

If you are looking at a package holiday then Thomsons and Thomas Cook have accomodations here or for an independent holiday then I would not hestitate in recommending 'Corfu selections' who have some lovely accomodations at very reasonable prices, all info on their website. Also check out 'Christina apartments Sans Stefanos Corfu', details on website.

Take a virtual tour @ Virtual tour sans stefanos, bliss and also check out the dedicated forum for info etc @ Sans stefanos forum.

Hope that this is of some help.

Hi, yes you are correct. We stayed at Kapetanios in June this year, absolutely enjoyed every minute. They do have 2 bedroom apartments so make sure if you book that you select this option. It actually worked out cheaper booking independently but you would have to price it up taking accommodation and flights into consideration. It is up an hill although only takes 5 minutes, anyone of reasonable fitness would not have a problem and the views are amazing. Mythos I think is on the flat. Vickys is lower down than Kapetanios and has steps down to the beach.

All of the reviews for Kapetanios are very good apart from a recent one but I am at a loss to understand where they are coming from in their review as all the staff and family are absolutely helpful and friendly, still I suppose there is always one for reasons best known to themselves, we always go with the majority when reading reviews and deciding if to book somewhere.

Let us know how you get on, Sns Stefanos is the only resort that we have ever returned to during our years of travel, such a special place.

resort seems to be a winner if we do go for corfu, and have had a look at the 3 apartments mentioned and they all have excellent reviews overall so don't think we can go far wrong. Thanks for all the suggestions. Feel free to suggest any other family favourites (resort/accomm) as we've our own ideas what we're looking for but always open to alternative breaks to our norm.

thanks for the advice. Think the resort sounds perfect. Have had look at the apartments suggested, and all have good reviews but just wonder if they have enough going on and facilities to meet all our needs. Struggling to find apartments to match what we are used to elsewhere in the same price bracket, ie, kids club, attractive adult and kids pools, etc. Any other suggestions.
