When are you planning to be there, for how many nights, and what's your max nightly budget in euros? That information will help in giving you useful recommendations...

And, will you have a car?

Have you tried Hotel Perivoli? It's fairly new, and I have not stayed there, but have bookmarked it for a future visit... it's about 20 minutes outside the city, located on a hillside in the orange groves. Fantastic views!

It's listed here on TA, but I do not see any reviews. If you search, you'll find a forum topic with positive comments.

Here's the hotel contact information:

Hotel Perivoli, Pyrgiotika, Nafplio, Tel: +302752047905, Fax: +302752047913, e-mail: info@hotelperivoli.com

You can visit the website: http://www.hotelperivoli.com/

You can also investigate some of the listings on Matt Barrett's Hotel booking site. These come up at having rooms available in the first days of August:

Hurry and book something, as Nafplion is a popular destination among Greek vacationers!

You say you have been looking for _hotels_, have you also tried the _pensions_? A hotel must have an open reception 24/7, a pension don't, and that is often the only difference. There are a plethora of lovely pensions in Nafplio, you could try Allotino, Xenon Inn, Omorfi Poli, Amymone, Acronafplia etc. Tell me if you need adresses to the web sites!

You could also check hotel Rex, not in the old town but just 5 minutes walk from the harbour, or, if you have a car, Amalia, in a peaceful orange grove 4 km drive from the city.

And one more: You could also try Deves Hotel, in Nafplio's New Town, around 15 min. walk from the Old Town.

Just returned from the Peloponnese. We stayed at Pension Dafni in Nafplio old town for a couple of nights. We have just done a review that should be posted in a couple of days and we gave it 4*. Lovely location in the heart of the old town and the rooms are better than they look on the web site. (www.pensiondafni.gr). By Greek standards, it is also a reasonable breakfast with orange juice, tea/coffee, bread/Jam and toasted cheese and ham sandwiches.

JenTal, these may very well be fully booked since your dates are so soon and at height of high season , but might be perfect for you:

minoanhotels.com/bungalows--houses/phaistos-…

These bungalows are at the FAR end of the Tolo Beach area, away from the Madding Crowds, but right near the water ... supposedly for 4, but I imagine they might drag in an extra folding bed ... Location is good for swims but also v. handy to Nafplio, a 15-minute bus ride.
