Must see in the Peloponnese?

Hi

We are staying in Koroni for 2 weeks in August - can you give any advice on "what not to miss" in the Peloponnese and Messinia area - this will be our first time to the Greek mainland.

Many thanks

You don't say what your interests are but here goes anyway.

Koroni is a lovely town but not ideal for exploring the Peloponnese due to its location. In the immediate area, Methoni, Pylos, Finikounda and Gialova are well worth visiting, the first two in particular.

Further afield, it will take round about an hour and a half to drive to the 'middle finger' to Kardamyli and another hour or so to the deep Mani. Mystras and Olympia are both around two to two and a half hours away.

None of the other major sites are within reasonable striking distance but the places I've mentioned should keep you pretty busy while allowing time for some serious R&R.

I would say Mystras. If you can manage it then drive there as you will get enough time to see the whole site, then eat in a local taverna.
