Ferry to Poros?

Hi guys,

Attempted to book a ferry tomorrow from 15:00 to get from Pireaeus to Poros, but I cannot seem to make a selection.

Does this mean it's fully booked!?

What am I going to do!?

Nick

Looks like you have ferries for Poros every day ex Fr, Sat, Sun.

Yeah, I'm aware of the schedule, but I cannot seem to book online for a crossing tomorrow from the Hellenic Seaways site. The earliest I can book for is Saturday...

I'm assuming that means ALL ferries on Thursday 26th (tomorrow) are fully booked??

Is that likely? Or a problem with the site/system?

Thanks,

Nick

I never pre-book, so I dont know. But to me it looks strange if everything are fully booked

If it helps there is a bus from Kiffisos to Galatas (five minute boat trip from Poros) at 16.20.

When I have visited the Saronic islands I have never booked ahead - just going to their ticket boot in the port and got my tickets:

Prebooking for tomorrow is most likely leaving it too late for the time spell required to process your tickets online.

According to their website a conventional ferry departs Piraeus at 18.20. In that case you don't need to worry about buying tickets in advance. Make your way down to Piraeus and buy them there but do give yourself plenty of time.

Thanks guys!

I'll turn up at the port and see!

If not, I can get the bus as someone pointed out.. Or drive to Galatas :).

Nightmare averted!

Just like @greek-traveller, I always have bought a ticket at the booth in th port and had never problems.

As far as I know you can not book tickets on-line with Hellenic if your trip is less than 3 days from the date of booking.

Hi Nicksy (and Greek-traveller) - thanks a lot! That explains it then!

Having said that, I am drawn to the idea of driving a rental directly from Athens airport to Galatas and getting the boat over.

Does anyone know what the drive is like? Difficult, or scenic, coastal etc?

I looked at POP's rentals and for some reason I couldn't calculate a price for tomorrow (26th), but could for the 27th and it came to 81 Euros, which is fairly reasonable (comparative to ferry).

Cheers again all,

Nick
