Iceland, Faroe Islands, Denmark, Norway

Hello, I am in dire need of suggestions. My husband and I are taking my parents to meet relatives in Denmark and Norway, we depart April 28, 2014 and have three weeks.

The problem is, we want to visit the Faroe Islands, take a Hurtigruten voyage beginning or ending in Bodo, Norway, spend one or two days in Iceland on the way home and desperately want a quick trip to St. Petersburg. (I do know we need a visa to enter St. Petersburg and there are flights between Copenhagen and St. Petersburg)

Experienced travelers, is this possible in three weeks, if so what are your suggestions or recommendations? I have tried travel agencies but they suggest guided tours which is out of the question unless they are 2-3 days long. Perhaps I have not found the right travel agent...

Too packed IMHO.

You need a visa to enter St. Petersburg. There are flights between Copenhagen and St. Petersburg.

Very packed and covering a huge area.

You could fly into Copenhagen (http://www.icelandair.us or http://www.norwegian.com) or Stockholm (http://www.icelandair.us, http://www.aerlingus.com or http://www.norwegian.com) on a one-way ticket from the states. From Copenhagen it's the train (http://www.sj.se - book 90 days in advance for discounted fares) to Stockholm for ferry to St.Petersburg (http://www.stpeterline.com/en - visa free for up to 72 hours, see website for details).

Back in Stockholm you fly to either Bergen (http://www.flysas.com or http://www.norwegian.com) or Trondheim (http://www.flysas.com) for Hurtigruten to Bodo (depending on how far you want to journey on it). From Bodo fly to wherever in Norway you need/want to go (http://www.flysas.com, http://www.wideroe or http://www.norwegian.com).

Then onto either Stavanger (Norway), Stord (Norway), Bergen (Norway), Copenhagen (Denmark) or Billund (Denmark) for direct flights to the Faroe Islands (http://www.atlantic.fo/en) - conneting flights available from other towns as well. Same airline also has flights from the Faroes to Reykjavík (Iceland).

Icelandair sells one-way flights from Reykjavík to Anchorage (twice weekly starting 14th May) for the journey home.
