We will be arriving at CPH around 19:30 on a Friday evening before our Oceania cruise which departs on Sunday afternoon. (our boarding time is 13:00) From looking at all the helpful posts on this board, it appears we will have to make our way by either cab or public transit to the Scandic Copenhagen. Our transportation choice may be influenced by the distance to the hotel from the central train station and whether we would have to transfer to another train or bus. We are coming from the west coast of North America, we will have been flying all night/day. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I understand that the train is great but lugging two suitcases, carry on bags and a computer is a concern.
We are not delighted with Oceania's choice of the Scandic Copenhagen. The current reviews leave a lot to be desired. Oceania is covering the cost of the Saturday night before the cruise. We are paying for Friday which we booked independently-much cheaper that way but the booking process direct with the hotel was a nightmare and there was an attempt to up sell us into a higher room category for the night that will be at our expense. I will save that for a later review. We should arrive at the hotel by 20:30. Are there any restaurants nearby that would be suitable for a casual meal ?
Where would be the best place to pick up some DKK on our arrival? We have chip and pin credit cards that we can use but I expect it would be advisable to have some local currency as well.
We plan to spend the next day sightseeing. I understand that a Copenhagen card is recommended. When and where should we purchase it? Are there any companies that offer walking tours or should we just let loose with a guidebook? Should we save our visit to Tivoli for sunset or daytime? Are there any sights beyond the "usual" that we shouldn't miss?
Thanks for your help.
