Hop on, hop off

Hi, I wonder if you can tell me if the canal boat tours are better than the bus tours? Or should we do both?

There also seems to be a lot of different tours, can anyone recommend which tour to go on? We liked the thought of spending a large part of a day using the hop on hop off tour as a basis for our sight seeing.

We will be staying in hotel Andersen, should this affect which tour might suit us best.

Thanks x

There are 2 Ho-Ho bus companies, "Hop-on-Hop-Off" and "Step-on-Step-off". The last-mentioned tends to currently not get very good reviews here: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g189541-i218-k5565…

Personally I´d use the boats as a first choice, though they don´t cover as much of the city, and remember to take a break at Christianshavn too (ascent of Vor Frelsers Kirke Tower maybe?) stromma.dk/en/…

The city centre is overall quite walkable. For the buses, maybe the Carlsberg-Frederiksberg route is particularly good for exploring lesser "accessible" areas ( http://www.stromma.dk/en/Home/SearchResult/?tag=hop-on+hop-off ). There is a combined daily ticket for DKK 350,-

Here´s the mentioned Carlsberg Tour stromma.dk/en/…

The combined ticket for DKK 350 is for both buses and boats by this company, "Supreme Ticket" stromma.dk/en/…

The cheapest alternative boat tours are Netto Bådene from Nyhavn, at DKK 40 for a guided tour of about 50 mins.

A secondary question: if you have purchased your tickets in advance, do you get on the bus before people buying on the spot? Is it worth it to purchase online ahead of time? I know you can get discount tickets for another city and save money as you go.

Is it worth it to purchase these tickets online before travelling? Do ticketed passengers get on the bus before people buying from the driver?

The buses I have noticed from the Ho-Ho lines were never full and there seems to be really plenty of free seats in them. Likewise I assume that the queues are modest.
