Gothenburg to Stockholm

Hi

We will be driving across sweden this august for our summer holiday. Part of the trip will involve us driving from Gothenburg to Stockholm and I'm looking for advise on potential stop over places worth seeing. We are a family with young children and was wondering if anyone would recommend a place to stop over roughly half way between the two cities? Maybe somewhere by a lake that's scenic but with stuff to do? Any thoughts guys? :-)

Gränna immediately pops in to mind. A nice picturesque little town located at the shore of lake Vättern.

Great views of the lake and a nice place to spend some time. It's also home of the peppermint rock candy, "polkagris", and have several small factories (or rather stores) where you can watch how the candy is made. Kids usually likes it quite a bit. You could also visit the island of Visingsö and maybe go with the "Remmalag" horse and carriage around the island.

There's also a nice beach with a lagoon which is very kid friendly.

More information and ideas about Gränna can be found here:
