tip regarding luggage storage in Stockholm

visiting Stockholm for one day , we encountered a serious problem where to leave our luggage. there are lockers at the central train & bus stations, but they're usually full and can't store large suitcases...

we found out that for 10kr. a piece you can store your luggage at a fancy department store named: "Ahlens City", at 50 Klarabergsgatan, st.

it"s a five minute walk from the central train/bus station...

we did it! it solved us a BIG problem...

Great advice thanks. Just for others - price is now 20 krona per item - and the 'cloakroom' where you can leave your cases is on the 2nd floor of Ahlens City, next to the loos/cafe. Remember only accessible during store opening hours.

If you want to avoid stairs/escalators, lifts are just inside rear-middle entrance to Ahlens City (on Master Samuelsgatan) and if you're going to/from Central station, you can go down this street to northern entrance of station, follow signs to lift ('hiss' in Swedish) down to platform access route - then there are lifts up to each platform.

Any idea how long one could leave luggage in the store room? I plan on traveling around Sweden for 10 days or so before settling into a smaller city. Possible to leave my 30kg suitcase with them during this time?

Hi Chris!

According to Åhlens City you can only leave your items for the day so you need to pick them up before they close.

If you're flying in to Arlanda airport then you'll find luggage storage there as well, with a maximum storage of 30 days. http://www.bagport.se

Hiya

Just a quick update. Ahlens City in Stockholm does indeed still have luggage storage. We visited in March 2015.

It is still 20 kr per item and they have big lockers which we were able to fit our fully packed 70 l rucksacks into. The staff there were really kind and helped us to squeeze the bags in!

It was a life saver because the lockers in central station were around 90 kr, a lot of them were already taken and I'm not convinced even the biggest ones would fit a big rucksack in.

Happy travels!
