I'm looking for somewhere to stay in Gothenburg and prefer a place that is within walking distance to most areas I'm likely to visit without the need for public transportation (can walk up to 20 minutes in any direction). What neighborhood would you recommend for this? My travel style typically includes a lot of walking around the main parts of the city to really get a good feel of it from the ground and exploring the local nightlife and restaurant scenes. I'm arriving from Stockholm by train and leaving to Copenhagen by train as well.
I see a place right by the central train station on Airbnb that is very reasonably priced. Is this a convenient location for walking around? There is also a more expensive option in the Old City. I have noticed that most hostels and cheaper hotels are by Lisberg Park. Where is most nightlife located?
