Safe for ladies to travel at night in Helinski

Hi,

We are taking Finnair and our transit from Zurich to Singapore will be in Helinski. Our flight will be arriving Helinski at 2255hrs.

We are considering to stay in Helinski for 1-2 nights since we are already there.

Is it safe for us, 3 ladies, to travel around midnight? I was thinking of getting the airport bus and will try to find hostel near the city centre.

Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Mrs Helinski,

Thank you for your advice. Glad to know that it is safe for us to travel even in midnite.

Will there be any airport bus after midnite? Any budget accommodation that you can recommend in the city centre area?

Once again thank you for your assistance.

Hello,

hostels have been discussed here tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g189934-i444-k5064…

The bus options are described at the Top questions in your right side column. For timetables see http://www.reittiopas.fi/en/

There are buses almost around the clock.

Airport bus 615 goes around till midnite, bus 620 goes thru the night, it has a slightly different route but goes to the railway station as well.

Hi Mrs Helinski,

Thank you for providing the information on the hostel. I will enquire on their availability.

Hi Polarbearfin,

Thank you for informing on the midnite bus.

As for the airport at Helinski, is there a locker where we can store our luggage. Was thinking it will save the hassle of carrying our luggages since we be staying only for one or two nights.

Thank you once again for all the advices. Really appreciate it.

A taxi will cost about 35 euros, depending on where you stay, not a lot more expensive than using the bus, and it will be door to door.

Is it really possible to get a taxi from the airport to the centre of Helsinki only for 35 Euros?

IMHO the bus will be far more cheaper than a taxi. correct me if I am wrong.

Another thought, why to pay for the locker since you will be paying for the hostel anyway.

35 euros is not realistic for 3 persons riding at night. The Helsinki taxi fare calculator www.taksihelsinki.fi/laskuri/Default.aspx… estimates the fare to be about 45 euros.

Hi All,

Sorry for the late reply and thank youuuuu for all the advice. We are quite lucky as we manage to book the earlier flight. Therefore we will be arriving Helsinki on 14th Nov at 2pm :) instead of midnight.

Thank you JohntheFinn - we will look out for the locker at Helsinki airport.

Thank you RomanCitizen - we have yet to book any accommodation but we will likely get accommodation at the city centre

Thank you Morocco - We will be taking the Finnair airport bus then. As we will be staying only one night in Helsinki, we tot it will be a hassle if we need to bring our big luggage thus we plan to put in in the airport locker.

Thank you the_goodsoil... - for providing the taxi fare calculator. We will just take the bus since we will be arriving in the afternoon

I am now in the midst of planning the itinerary for Helsinki..any suggestion? We will be in Helsinki from 14th Nov (reach 2pm) and depart 15th Nov (midnight flight).

Can we get halal food in Helsinki?

Thank you in advance.
