Day visit Thursday or Friday

Any preference? We'll have a limited time, but wouldn't wish to miss e.g. a good market. Thanks.

No difference regarding markets, shops or museums. Only the restaurants might be a little bit more crowded on Friday nights.

It depends on what you mean by "good markets". The main market is Kauppatori, by the sea, from where ferries leave for Suomenlinna. This would be a refreshing short trip for you, ferries leave frequently. After which you could lunch at the market square, or elsewhere in the center of Helsinki.

Kauppatori is full of small stalls, for lunch, Finnish souvernirs items etc but targeted mainly for tourists.

Hakaniemi market is more like an everyday market place, fruit and flower stalls and also an inside hall for fresh fish etc. couple of tram stops from the main Railway station.

Helsinki center is really very small and can be done easily, such as shopping, sightseeing, eating etc.
