Where is the Cruise ship port (terminal) for Helsinki?

Hi Experts.

A cruise that I am booked on is scheduled to take us to Helsinki.

Is the cruise ship port near the city of Helsinki?

The ship will be one of the very large ones (Celebrity Eclipse)

If the Cruise port is not near Helsinki, how would we get to Helsinki on our own without joining a tour?

I would love any help on this, and if you need any help regarding the Cruise Port for Cork city I would be delighted to reciprocate !!

The cruise ship I will be on, docks at West Harbour. How many Km is West Harbour from Helsinki city centre?

Is it walkable?

There are locals with better answers I'm sure, but here are my 2 cents anyway. It's walkable but quite far, so I think it would be better to take the tram 9. The stop is right in front of the terminal and the ticket costs 2,80 from the driver (2,20 from a machine, but I'm not sure if they have one at the terminal).

In my opinion, too far to walk, take tram 9, as rimputti suggested, 10 mins ride and you are in the centre of Helsinki, 100m from the main Railway station.

May the road rise to meet you !

You would do better to get a 24-hour ticket (€8) as that will cover all your transport in Helsinki, including one of the waterbuses serving the Suomenlinna fortress islands.

Great tips, thank you all very much. Nice to know that the tram is beside the terminal.

You are welcome. By the way, you can get your 24-hour ticket from any R-kiosk. These are all over and there must be one in or outside the terminal.

Yes the trams 6T and 9 to the center leave in front of the terminal every few minutes, but not the one cruise ships use. It's a few hundred meters away. Easiest is to buy the 24 h ticket from the driver. (No bills greater than € 20, no cards.)

Me and my mother took the tram, it was easy. Diffinately to long to walk.

It can be walked and there are some quite interesting places along the way, but it's not recommended for cruise visitors because of time restraints.
