Is it best to wear 2/3 thin layers of clothing or more thicker cloths..

Layers will make it easy to remove clothing when you go to the well-heated indoor premises. They also allow you to have something suitable available whether the weather turns out to be cold or above zero.

In 2013 the average March temperature in Helsinki was 0.8C while in 2012 it was -5.2C and the average for years 1981-2010 was -1.3C. The coldest ever March temperature has been -9.6C.

It is good to have a windproof and waterproof outer layer since at the sea it tends to be windy and it can be raining if you are unlucky.

I'd also recommend layers, please remember about something warm for your head!
