Telephone calls from Iceland to Europe

What is the cheapest way of calling Italy from Iceland (besides skype)? Any prepaid telephone cards that can be used from public or land line phones? If yes, what is approximate cost of the cards and the calls? Where to buy such cards? Thank you.

Well the cost is usually high and there is not much of any cool solutions. http://www.globalcall.is/ is probably the best solution availible in 7 - 11 look-a-likes in Iceland called 10 - 11. There rate to Italy seems to be 0.025 Euros a minute.

Here are some further information about how to buy:

Thank you very much indeed.

Would appreciate if you let me know also the cost of local calls in Iceland (from a phone booth and land line). Are they charged per minute or per call?

They are charged per minute and would be just about the same or even more expensive. Of course much more if you call cell phone.
