We arrive next week and were really hoping for good weather and roads clear of snow. Looks like this is not to be. I read yesterday that Anchorage Alaska has also been experiencing a winterary spring too. But...we will come prepared to enjoy Iceland in whatever weather and conditions that we find. However, sometimes when we travel we bring good weather with us....so maybe?
Thx for the link, it appears that the road to Gullfoss is currently impassable ? There goes my golden circle dream :). My trip is in 14 days...not sure how quickly the road condition could improve. How often is this road conditions link updated ?
tigerphotog the road is good all the way to the waterfall, and has been all winter. It is impassable from Gullfoss and further into the interior.
You, sir, MADE my day, Takk Fyrir !! Watching this webcam LIVE right now and it has transported me to your magical country, thanks so much for all the helpful posts you've been writing here (am reading some older ones). You are incredibly helpful, thanks a lot !! Watching all the webcams now...

Icelandicguide....we will be in West Fjords the last week of May. We need to travel from Isafjordur to the ferry at Breidafjorduto on May 29. We already have our ferry tickets. I see that a lot of that route is impassable at the present time. What is the probability of the roads being open by that date? I know that no one can say for sure...just the possibility. Thanks
The roads will most likely be open at that time. 90%
Thanks Icelandicguide....this reassures me somewhat. We just have wait and see.
Also heading there in about a week and a half, hoping spring moves in with some force soon!
One of the best ways of knowing the current conditions is by looking at the road cameras from the roads administrations website. Just click on the part of the country you want to see further: vegagerdin.is/umferd-og-faerd/vefmyndavelar/
Tomorrow ia am arriving to Rejkavik, whre can I eat real iceland food, not fancy or gourmet?
