Hotel Loftleiðir is located at the domestic airport. It´s a decent hotel with an indoor swimmingpool, and sauna, a good restaurantand close to the "Pearl". On the downside, it´s really not within a walking distance with the center, and not a very good bus line.

Hotel Óðinsvé is a quiet well located small hotel in the center of town. Here you have "everything" within a short walking distance. The hotel has a very good restaurant.

Hotel Nordica is one of the most luxorious hotels in Reykjavík, and the favorite of many. Like Loftleiðir it is not within a short walking distance of the center. But it is next to the recreational area with swimmingpools, national stadium, and the zoo and family park. There are many very good restaurants in the neighboorhood, aswell as in the hotel itself. The hotel has a good spa and gym, wich makes it the favorite amongst athletes. There is a good busline to the center.

Why not start with TripAdvisor traveller reviews:

A few comments on distances:

Loftleiðir is a 20-25 minute walk* to central Reykjavík

Nordica is a 30-35 minute walk* to central Reykjavík

Oðinsvé is a 8-10 minute walk* to central Reykjavík

*all walking times are my estimate for a gentle pace, and assume decent weather and no snow/ice on the ground. “central Reykjavík” is Austurvöllur square - Alþingi / Althingi (parliament) and Hotel Borg. Walking times quoted in the traveller reviews probably have different definitions of “downtown” – for instance, the end of the main shopping street nearest Nordica is still a 15 minute walk to Austurvöllur.

Loftleiðir is on the perimeter of the domestic airport, below the hill on which is the restaurant Perlan (the Pearl). The hill, Öskuhlíð, has some pretty walks and the geothermally-heated beach is nearby visitreykjavik.is/desktopdefault.aspx/…

Nordica is on the edge a 30-35 minute walk* to central Reykjavík and is located on the edge of a commercial area. Rooms at the front (north side) have superb views across the bay to the mountain Esja. A few mid-range restaurants nearby.

Oðinsvé is a 8-10 minute walk* to central Reykjavík and is in a quiet residential area. Short walk to many restaurants and shops.

They are all good hotels, but, based on location alone, I think Odinsve is your best choice. Being able to walk around downtown Reykjavik is really key to a fun trip (I think). The other two hotels are not very favorable for that, and you'll go broke with taxis.

Nordica is a posh place, with great views, but it's a bit far from the center of town.
