I am going in Jan and wanted to go huskey sledging too.

I have found a few sites through google that say it is possible to do at that time of year. But I cant find information about how to book, how much, times etc etc. It did say that you get picked up by jeep from where you are staying and get taken out to a glacier and ride about for an hour, and possibly stop off on the way to see various sights too.

I think said it was about £85, although Im not sure how accurate that is!

I was in Iceland last week and stood behind a man at the tourist office in Reykjavik who was looking to do the same thing. The girl working at the office had information about the sledding and even confirmed that there are seven new puppies at the sledding company. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough snow for sledding last week but you should be okay in December.

The tourist information number is: +354 590 1550 and here's their contact info page on their website: visitreykjavik.is/desktopdefault.aspx/…

I would just give them a quick call and they should have all the specifics you need.

I am going on Friday and have booked my husky sledding with www.dogsledding.is also. We have been told that we will either do the sledding on the Glacier or the black sand! I am so excited. I have also booked to do whale watching, horse riding and the blue lagoon!

At this time of the year there are very few whales around and the weather can be poor, resulting in tour cancellations.

Elding offer sailings until the end of October http://elding.is/tolbar/whale_watching/

You can read their diary of daily sightings here http://elding.is/elding/whale_watching_diary/
