Transfer between the airports

I need to find out what is the best way between the two airports. We fly in at 6:30 am and then go leave fron the domestic airport at 11:00 am. Have thought about delaying our domestic flight a few hours to try and do The Blue Lagoon in between. Is this logical. Expensive? I have two children with me as well. Thank You.

If you are going into Reykjavik, you can take the SkyBus which meets every international flight. It costs about 200ISK ($38) each.

If you want to go to the Blue Lagoon you can either take a taxi or arrange the trip with Iceland Excursions (www.icelandexcursions.is) or Reykjavik Excursions (www.reykjavikexcursions.is).

Its often more convenient to go to the Blue Lagoon on your way to Kevlavik (international) airport when you are leaving. Just leave an hour or so before you normally would and soak up the waters. Then its 20 minutes to the airport from there.

If you can change your domestic flight, then Reykjavik Excursions do offer transfers from the Lagoon to Reykjavik, leaving at 1115, 1315 and 1515. There may be a Flybus from KEF mid-morning, as BA's flight arrives at 0945, but you'd have to make sure you were at the airport in good time to catch it. (Since FI's flights usually arrive early in the morning, the Flybus usually doesn't operate from KEF to Reykjavik after about 0800, until later in the day)

It would certainly be a relaxing introduction to Iceland, but be aware that the water can be both soothing and very drying to your skin, and you might feel crinkly for a whle after your soak, even after showering thoroughly.

RKV (the domestic terminal) is about a four minute drive from the bus station in the city - it is a very basic little place, more or less two rooms, chairs, a pay phone, a small snack bar, and four check in desks. Check in usually starts about 45 minutes before flight departure - it's all very low key and different from flying here in NoAm.
