The Icelandic Króna is the legal currency in Iceland. Many might accept other currencies, but, here like everywhere in the world, you wouldn´t get good ratings.

You do not "bring" currency with you, you exchange once here, or withdraw from ATM´s or try use Credit cards only.

TAXI fares depend on weekdays / weekends and night or day. This should be between 2000 Isk and 4000 Isk.

I don´t think you get good rates in the UK.

But here are the rates, NOTE, you have to use "note" rates to get the right exchange rate.

This guy, icelandic guide, is giving prices for taxis on this site, which are not true, about double the real rate. The diffrence between a day rate and night- weekend rate is not double, the diffrence is about 30%. Like a taxi from downtown Reykjavík to Grand Hotel or the Hilton are by night somthing close to ISK 2.500. All taxis in Reykjavik have certified meters, and you pay the amount on the meter.
