Cards will work most places. Cash from ATM will be cheaper than exchange unless you have one of those cards from hell that charge a fortune for use abroad.

We were able to manage with credit cards in all places. Just make sure you have a card that does not charge international transaction fees.

anyone use a prepaid travel card? which is best.? I don't really want to use a credit card and have looked into my rbs debit card fees and they are extortionate for transactions and cash withdrawals.

Just compare costs - which you have access to, not us.

The halifax clarity credit card is free to use . We only changed £100 one there into ISK and ended up spending most of that in duty free on way home . EVERYWHERE takes credit cards even the toilets at the tectonic plates !

Anything that uses Visa or MasterCard. Just note that some debit cards may require on-line access which may not be available in a few places.

We used a credit card with no foreign transaction fees exclusively. Used it for everything for the 4 days there.

No, I got a Bank of America Travel Rewards card that has a chip (something not many cards here have).
