My girlfriend and I have 5nights/6days in Iceland and would like to see both the south eastern side of the island as far east as Skaftafell and Snaefllenss peninsula (west). Instead of flying into the Reykjavik and driving east and then retracing out steps to go back west, we were wondering if it made sense to take a domestic flight into Hornafjordur airport, renting a car and then just going one-way west to east... seems like a more efficient route that would allow us to take it all in in 5/6 days. Any thoughts? How small are those planes? Still have nightmares about the 1978 single prop 4-seat cessna I took in New Zealand through stormy weather from Milford Sound to Queenstown.
