Malta weather worries for our first visit in March/April

Information would be appreciated on some typical weather if we were to book (a week in Valletta) our first holiday in Malta. Dates considered are the last week of March to April 4th. Is it usually too cold then to use hotel pool and/or go sea bathing? Coming from Scotland we'll arrive in raincoats, but is a thin/thick jacket and an umbrella enough on a raining or windy day ? What's normal? We will be sightseeing all day and just don't want to bring all the wrong stuff - like we did in Rome at same time last year, where we really needed cardigan, giant leather jacket, scarf and waterproof shoes in the morning (and after dark) , but some afternoons the sun came out and it was really really very hot.... so we carried everything around.. I need a magic answer ! .....

Hi.

This is a very difficult question to answer .

The weather can never be guaranteed anywhere . However the late March/ early April time is usually a good time for weather.

It is the beginnings of spring and is normally lovely and warm and sunny.

The country side should be awash with wild flowers and very green.

The weather this year has been very good . January has been very sunny with a few not so good days so hopefully it will be nice while you are there.

If it does rain it usually soon dries up.

Can`t be any more specific.

Fingers crossed ------ enjoy your stay in Malta.

Graham

Unless you're very brave it's not really hot enough for swimming in the sea. As regards hotel pools , the larger hotels have heated pools so you'll have to check them out.

Generally speaking March / April is a very good time to visit Malta because it is not too busy and the weather is fine - it might get a little bit chilly in the evenings, but a light jacket should suffice. It way be a little bit cold to swim in the, however there are a number of locals who would have already started swimming in the sea from March onwards.
