Is it customary to leave tips for the diving guides in malta? If it is, then how much?

At your discretion. A tip is appreciated. The dive operation I use has a tip jar on the shop counter and I usually put something in there at the end of the trip, or give something to any particular person who has helped. Also/ or buy them a drink, snack or two at lunch or after diving (not necessarily alcohol whilst diving!). Say 10 Percent, which is 2 or 3 euros per dive. Tipping is not as expected as say the US.

Tipping is customary in Malta and a gratuity of between 5% and 10%, whenever good service has been provided is reasonable. However if a service charge has already been included in the bill, a tip is not necessary. If discretion and common sense is used, you will have no problems with tipping, but it is always worth checking the individual establishment’s policy if you are unsure.
