Best Resort - not too quiet - not too brash

Thinking of trying Malta next summer - what would your recommendations be for a couple of over 60's who still like the occasional boogie and karaoke etc.

A quietly located hotel in Qawra or Bugibba will likely suit. The resorts are intertwined on one promontory with a nice promenade. It is touristic and quite Brit focussed and there are numerous restaurants and bars. Transport links are reasonable but there is no beach within the resort other than a small man-made option. Do note that August is very warm so you might decide to plan around that month unless you like consistent temperatures over 30 degrees.

Have look at Qawra/Bugibba which merge into one another. Qawra is the quieter of the two. They are tourist resorts with not much Maltese influence in the buildings but the area has a long blocked paved prom with several seats/cafes so you can enjoy a long walk on the lovely coastline. Plenty of bars in Bugibba. There is a. bus station where you can catch a bus to various parts of this lovely island. Alternatively take a look at Sliema or St Julian's. Also have you read the top questions about Malta on right of your OP? Enjoy your planning and eventually holiday.

Basically Bugibba/Qawra cater for holiday makers (foreign and local) and it's only recently that people are beginning to live there all year round. St Julians/Sliema are primarily residential but have all the amenities a tourist would expect. There are good write ups under Top Questions
