getting around

Should we hire a car - travelling in April and staying in San Anton (mixed reviews but just somewhere to sleep) .

We want to visit all the sites and Gozo (is bus as good on Gozo)

Should we book airport transfers with travel company £18 in total return or use local bus to bugibba

Bus prices look great!! so confused. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hiring a motor car is a jolly good idea as it will allow you to visit parts of the country that are difficult by bus.

Gozo is manageable by bus but if you are just going there for the day a motorcar will make it easier to get around and quicker to get there,

The cost of taking the vehicle on the ferry is 12 euros ( plus two people at 4.65 euros each )

Many parts of Malta are better visited on the bus because of the difficulties with parking.

Valletta and Sliema are certainly better by bus ,

Why not hire a motorcar for part of your stay and use buses for the rest of the time !

The weekly bus ticket is 6.50 euro and a daily one 1.50 euro.

As for transfer you could catch a bus ( X3 ) to Bugibba bus station then catching 221 bus round to St Pauls Bay with a short walk on to the hotel.

A taxi will cost you about 20 euros and will drop you and your luggage at the hotel.

Enjoy your stay.

Modynes - to be honest, most of the questions you are asking have been asked and answered on here during the last month or so, so it might be working your way back through the other posts here tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g190311-i348-Mal… to see what has been suggested.

This particularly applies to Car Hire (arrange it locally when you arrive, once you have seen the quality of everybody else's driving!), and Airport Transfers (try Travel Republic who seen to have good prices and good reviews).

With regards to Gozo, the public buses are OK but only run once per hour radiating from the capital Victoria. However the Hop-on Hop-off buses on Gozo provide a fun alternative and so are worth considering - see tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g190313-s302/Island… .
