Have a look at tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g190327-Sliema_Island… - see what catches your fancy and get back to us.

Bear in mind that the beach is not sandy, but there lots of areas for sunbathing and easy access to the sea. There are also beach clubs and water polo clubs where you can hire loungers and use the pool

There are a couple of really tiny sandy beaches in Sliema and a small one in St Georges Bay, St Julians

If you want a sandy beach have a look around St Pauls Bay or if you want nightlife and a small beach then St Julians or Sliems would be best have a look at Booking.Com for a hotel early Sept will still be in season so some hotels may be a bit pricey.Have a look at the Corintina in St Georges Bay has a small sandy beach at end of hill beside Bay Street where the clubs are but you cant hear them from hotel nice restaurants nearby bus outside hotel and a few minutes walk to Sliema bus terminal.
