Hi Yvonne.

I have been visiting Malta for about 15 years, staying up to 10 weeks per year and i am still finding new interesting things.

However realistically I would say 10 to 14 days would give you time to get a real feeling for Malta and see most of the major places of interest.

Graham.

A lot depends on the time of year - if in peak season July/August allow at least 10 days for sightseeing & relaxing. You can do a lot of walking in Malta esp Valletta, Mdina, 3 Cities then there are trips further afield eg Blue Grotto, Ghar Lapsi etc. Then if you go across to Gozo could easily spend a couple of days to thoroughly explore there too. I found most of the museums where not places that you just dashed in & out of in 10 mins - sometimes you could spend a couple of hours each esp St Johns Co Cathedral and the Grand Masters Palace & Armory. If you want to see the Hypogyeum book well in advance at www.heritagemalta.com

Have a look at the Top Questions on the right to give you an idea of what there is to see. There is a bird sanctuary in Mellieha.

It also depends if you want some relaxing days by the sea as a break from sight seeing'

Include an excursion to Gozo.

The Three Cities of Cottonera especially Birgu/Vittoriosa are well worth seeing. They are largely untouched as when there was the tourist boom some years ago they were left in peace.

Cruise visitors 'see' Valletta in a few hours , others spend a day going round St Johns Cathedral and its musuem.
