How expensive is Cyprus in 2014?

We have never been to Cyprus and one of the reasons was that I kept hearing stories about how expensive it is there. How does it compare to the UK for holiday staples like eating out and drinks in a bar?

Hi, We do not find Cyprus anymore expensive for eating out than the UK , just allow yourself the amount that you would normally spend on eating-drinking out at home ,you can get set menus for around 15 euro .less if you only have a main course ,beer starts from around 2.50 a pint ,look out for happy hours.

Yes you hear stories about Cyprus being expensive but where do these people go to eat ,if you avoid the fine dining places and some places in the tourists traps you will be fine. and ask the locals where they eat they are happy to help.Julie

Hi, I agree with Julie. We have been having holidays in Cyprus for over 15 years and generally find most things a fair price. We did try Rhodes 3 years ago and although prices were very slightly cheaper than Cyprus, using the public transport seemed much dearer than Cyprus.

We read the reviews on trip advisor and go to restaurants that are recommended and have never really had a bad meal.

Hiring of sunbeds etc are much cheaper than some places in Spain. So I would give Cyprus a go. We love the fabulous weather that you usually get, and the people are great. Barbara
