Northern Cyprus-why do travel agents discourage?

Hi, My family after looking at cyprus decided that the North looked really nice. We went to try and book today for October half term in Kyrenia and the travel agents seemed to think we should go to the south, and gave us lots of negative views. Is October the end of the season there? Any info would be appreciated as we now feel deflated!!

I must disagree Stephan - it's not GC propaganda. The fact remains the TRNC is not recognised anywhere in the world other than Turkey. I know why Turkey intervened but this forum isn't the place to discuss issues which are far too deep and complicated. I wish politicians all over the world would realise we only have one life - if we are very lucky we may reach 80 years of age so why the inhabitants of the planet just can't get on with each other I don't know.

I have friends who holiday in the north booking direct with villa owners who regularly advertise in the UK Sunday papers. You can easily find holidays there if you want to. The TRNC hasn't been overdeveloped yet simply because Turkey won't expend the finance to improve the infrastructure. You only have to look at Famagusta but more particularly Varosha - decaying and neglected.
