Hi, bizarre, we r a mandy n tim aswell, lol!! In the past we have stayed at almond village, its about 20 mins or so from kyrenia, but love this place, take a look at reviews on ta, we always book direct with them, really helpful, efficent and friendly, we book flights separate although almond can help u with this, we have always flown to ercan but might try larnaca this year, i am still trying to make my mind up.

Hi MandyTim, We have stayed at the Ship Inn for two weeks in May for the past five years. We have booked with Direct Traveller but for the past three years have done it ourselves. Book a flight to Larnaca and then contact Tony the owner of the hotel by phone at his Wimbledon address, his phone number can be obtained via the Ship Inn hotel website under "contact us".He will give you a quote for whatever you want, B & B or half board, and will include taxi transfer to and from the airport. You will find this is cheaper. The hotel is about a mile and a half from Kyrenia but is on the main Lapta road with plenty of buses passing. The hotel have their own Taxis and hire cars.

We have also stayed at the Ship inn for the last five years,

The first couple of years we booked with Direct traveller (No problem) but most of the other guests booked direct with Tony in Wimbledon We just tell him where we want to fly to (Larnaca)and flights we prefer What board option and any room that we prefer Within 5 minutes he had rang us bag all booked.

We found that the cost was less than any travel agent. I should just add that the price he quoted included transfers both ways from Larnaca airport.Enjoy!!

thanks for the advise, just a couple more questions,

what time of year did you go and how far in advance did you book your flights,

our flights alone are coming up at a price we could get the whole package for

thanks

mandy

Hi, mandyTim, I guess you are looking at Thomas Cook flights from Bristol. We always go in may and every year the cost of flights have gone up. Nextyear the flight has been changed from a morning flight to the afternoon. The cheaper package prices are generally from an airport flying to Ercan, and from this part of the country means a journey to either Gatwick or Birmingham.Even with the high air fares I find that in May it is cheaper than the Caneries and sunshine is almost guaranteed.

A quick check this morning with Direct Traveller for early May gets quotes of £ 766 per person from Bristol via Larnaca and £515 per person from Gatwick via Larnaca. You certainly pay a lot more to travel from Bristol where there is no competition.

Half board at the Ship Inn Hotel is breakfeast and an evening meal. The evening meal consists of three choices for starter and three choices for main course. If at any time you do not like the choices offered you can choose a meal from the a la carte menu and you will receive a discount. If you have a hire car there are a number of restaurants that you can visit, there are not many within walking distance.
