Limassol for new year

Thinking of The Four Seasons for New Year what will it be like weather wise and will it be busy?

The Four Seasons puts on a Gala Dinner so I am sure the hotel will be busy but the area around the hotel will be pretty quiet, it was pretty dead last week. The days are short at that time of year just like they are here, the evenings are cold and the weather by day can vary. You will probably see some sunshine though.

It is so difficult to say as the weather everywhere seems to be changing. We got back from Limassol on Tuesday night after ten days holiday. Normally the weather in June is great but it was really weird this year. It was sunny in the mornings and then a strong wind got up in the afternoon and the sea became very rough it was very cool in the evenings. One morning it was bright and sunny one minute and then this thick mist descended and you couldn't see a thing. It disappeared almost as soon as it came but it was really strange. The locals were baffled by their weather. If that can happen in June anything could happen in late December!

We went to the Amathus this time. Normally go to the Four Seasons but wanted more sunbathing space.

I think the weather in Cyprus has been strange this year ,we flew out on April 20th into a heat wave no cardi needed in the evening we were in Pissouri for the from 25th-28 on the last morning we were on the beach at 8-30 in the morning and it was boiling ,the weather changed when we left Larnaca on 3rd May it was cold-windy.

Cyprus weather over new year you take pot luck ,I have come home with a good tan after new year ,another time the weather was not so good.Julie

It's still very windy in the afternoons now in early July - but it did exactly the same last summer too. We've found it's better to go to the beach in the morning and then go by the pool in the afternoon. However, we've been having temperatures in the low to mid 30s most days and the humidity has been here since towards the end of June which is a bit early.

We've driven to Curium Beach several times at the weekend in the afternoon to find it's too windy to get our beach chairs out and try to sit there for any length of time so we've turned around and headed back to the timeshare swimming pool instead.

The sea isn't as warm either at this time as year than it has been in the past although I've been swimming in it every week since April/May.

We have a friend who came out for Christmas/New Year for the first 7 years we were living here and she's always managed to spend time on a sunlounger down at the Apollonia Hotel swimming pool in her swimming costume. Tourists are in the pool at that time, year after year.

Temperatures can be be anywhere between 18C to 22C but drop quite quickly once the sun starts to descend after 3pm. Then you can expect around 12C and cooling overnight but could be having breakfast outside in a sunny, sheltered spot the next morning. Usually, clear blue skies and excellent for photographs.

Here are some photos I took on 30 December 2012: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjDpgRnX and these taken walking around Kolossi Castle and the village on 18 January this year: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjQRkUwP
