Choose cyprus or tenerife for New Year break?

I know weather is unpredictable and have read the reports but need to choose between cyprus and tenerife/lanzarote for a post christmas break - we like walking exploring swimming cycling and one is vegetarian - we are not looking for nightlife or entertainment - which would be best?

Hi,

These sites should help:

Check out this site. In the middle of the page (History & Almanac) you can put in any date from 1996 and it will give you the weather on that given day/week/month

http://www.wunderground.com

Weather2Travel.com is also good & can tell you humidity, hrs of sunshine etc

I've done Lanzarote and Cyprus at Christmas. The weather is better/warmer in the Canaries, but there's no contest - it's Cyprus every time.

So it really down to what you like.

There's lots of lovely walks in Cyprus. I stay outside Paphos (about 16 kms) and often walk around Kouklia district. There are many lovely walks in the Troodos mountains. The food is also leaning in the direction of vegetarian, if you ignore the souvlaki end of the market. Swimmimg will be chilly, however - unless you're the hardy type. However, I'm sure lots of people would go for the Canaries.

Thanks again - I have come up with Anemi Apartments sc which would give cash for eating out - are there many open for new year - would want to book new years eve in advance Or the Asos Coral Beach Hotel which is All Inclusive. We will hire a car for some of the week to explore further afield but AI usually provide packed lunch - which of these is better located for 2 mid age travellers. Any comments

Can't help you there as I always rent a house outside Paphos, but for a wonderful Cypriot Sunday lunch go to Pericles, outside the village of Nata. Lots of veggie stuff, all homemade - closed Mondays - buffet lunch only on Sundays.

That's no good either.

Just "Google" Pericles, Nata.
